Reaching your thirties can feel a little daunting and overwhelming. After being a ‘twenty something’ for almost the whole of your adult life, you feel like by your third decade that you should have your life together. Of course, it’s not that simple, we all progress at different rates and we’re all on different paths. Some people have focused on career, others on family, others on travel and self development so it’s pointless to try and compare. However, there are some things we all have in common in our thirties, our beauty regime needs a bit of a switch up. During our thirties, skin starts to decrease in collagen and elastin which leads to the development of fine lines and wrinkles. Unfortunately, there is no fountain of youth and this aging is a natural process, however there are things we can do to slow it down. Not getting enough sleep, poor diet, smoking and lack of a good skincare routine can all speed up the formation of fine lines. Look after your body in general, eat well, stay hydrated, get enough sleep and ditch those dangerous vices such as illicit drugs, smoking and binge drinking. By the time you’ve been on earth for thirty years, your teeth have done some serious work. Our metabolism naturally slows down as we age. So even if you’ve always been able to eat what you want without gaining weight, you might find this isn’t the case as you approach thirty. By the time you’re out of your twenties you will more than likely be in a good place with food, knowing that health is important and having a good selection of healthy home cooked meals in your repertoire. You might find that you have to be more careful when it comes to treats, and that you need to up your workout regime a little. Find an activity you enjoy, it could be anything from a dance class to yoga to swimming, that way staying in shape won’t feel like a chore.
