Productivity block – when you don’t know where to start!

HAPPY people,

How do you do?

You know how it goes,

“I just can’t do it” ….”I don’t know where to start”…”I don’t have any ideas”… “This is too hard”…”I’ll never have time”…

Writing can be a challenge, and getting myself to write today was challenge. This goes for anyone else who is finding it difficult to start something that they very well know is good for them or know they simply should be doing. As the minimalists say, the first step to beginning is to be there. Take the seat, grab the pen (or keyboard in today’s age) and write whatever comes to mind.

To teach myself a lesson, I have decided to write whatever comes to mind today, no matter what it is. I will give it only a few edits and send it off – This post you’re reading!

Many of us have knowledge. We know a lot about everything. We know a lot about what should be done, what’s missing, where the gap should be filled be it in our lives or in other spaces…YET, we do nothing. We talk, but don’t walk the talk. I know a lot of people are guilty.

Thing is good people, KNOWLEDGE WITHOUT APPLICATION is nothing, it’s useless. When we don’t apply what we know, we should not complain as we have no one else to blame but ourselves.

When we apply what we know, we set events in motion. We become the catalyst. We start a chain of productivity that either we can continue or pass on to another. We engage with and contribute to ourselves and the Universe, in its omnipresent, omniscient and omnipotent nature. The Universe opens the doors, it sees initiative, desire, strength and tenacity, and brings to us everything that is within this wavelength. When you begin and engage, you attract the very thoughts, ideas, and people that you initially thought you lacked.

Beginning opens our eyes. You start to see what you never saw when idle. Opportunities present themselves to us and within no time, we not only have something to show, but we have something to develop. We have a product that has its strengths and weaknesses from which there will be progress and growth.

Do you see where I’m headed with this? All it takes is the first step. I truly find that once this is overcome, there is then a clearer picture of what to work on and in turn motivation ensues.

There we have it! I jotted a couple of sentences, inspired myself and hopefully you as well. I’m pumped now!!! Procrastination is a bitch, but there is nothing more a bitch than knowledge unused.

So I dare you, START IT. NOW. TODAY.

“Knowledge does not apply itself. Our actions are not governed by knowledge, but by custom, precedent and habit”

  1. It came really hard to me to start blogging, I’ve always wanted to do it, but have never had enough motivation. Year and a half ago I started writing some posts with book reviews, which wasn’t in fact the best topic for me and now I feel bored everytime I have to do it, so I decided to start another blog with a different subject area and I’m glad that I didn’t change my mind, because now I’m just polishing the details and in few days blog will appear, but I know, if I want to do something I have to start now, not tommorow. Although my first blog wasn’t a very big success I’m happy that I decided to “make it alive”. 🙂 I’ve found your blog quite recently and I really like it, you inspired me a lot! Keep going!
    Greetings 😉

    • Hello Weroll!! Thanks for dropping by and sharing your experience. In order to grow we need to let go of the old and embrace the new, we gotta let go of the good and go for the better. You are doing great, the fact that you are aware and you are trying is what is best. I wish you all the best with your blog and I’m super happy that you’ve decided to START!! THANK YOU, I’ll also keep going 🙂

So true! There are so many times where I know what I should be doing, but just can’t motivate myself to do it. I keep thinking about it and an hour goes by and I feel so guilty. But usually once I start it I think to myself “well that was easy” 🙂

  9. It’s always hard for me to start writing a new post. Finding the correct words is a slow process for me, and it sometimes just holds me back from writing. I actually have a few posts lined up right now that I created by just writing down my thoughts as they were, without searching for fancy words or thinking about structure. Then afterwards I re-read them, made them a bit easier to read and added subtitles and paragraphs. It’s so much easier this way. Just do it! 😉

    • I think it’s a great idea to write down your thoughts without any judgement from yourself. Then leave them be and revisit them later – you’ll be surprised how brilliant you are 🙂 I think you should forget about the fancy words and just BE YOU AND DO YOU! This is what attracts people – being relatable! I wish you all the best with your writing! xoxo

  10. I’m the type of person where if I don’t do it when it needs to be done it doesn’t get done, a habit i’m working hard to change. I’m trying to make it so I stop and think to myself “why does it need to be done” if the reasons why outweigh the reasons it doesn’t need to be done, I do it. This goes for anything from working out to house work to writing my blogs 🙂

  14. Ahh I’ve had my fair share of procrastination! It’s like I know I can do it yet I put it off and put it off! When I actually do it, or then wonder what took me so long to do it! Ree Love30

    • I think one of the best strategies is learning how to control your thought, focusing on the good ones and ignoring the bad ones. When your mind is composed of mostly good, all it will want to do is do good, and that includes being productive!!

  17. I really needed to read this… I have had so many ideas in my head but implementing them has been a huge issue. Procrastination fuelled by lack of confidence is the biggest of my problems. Then there is the excuse making. But I am aware now, and even the fact that I am taking the time to comment on this is a step in the right direction (I generally even avoid doing that *sigh*). Thank you 🙂

    • I hear you Hombakazi 🙂 It’s a problem for many people and does/has happened to me too. One of the biggest steps is to be FEARLESS. Fear is so crippling and stands in the way of so much greatness. In order to accomplish things that have never been done, you’ve got to do something you’ve never done. Thanks for dropping by darlin! I wish you all the best, keep your head up, realize there is only one of you, and that whatever ideas you have, are worth working on and showing the world!! xoxox
